As the summer break kicked off, Jinno Naoto and Manabe Rika finally admitted their long-held feelings for each other and started dating. But their budding romance was soon interrupted by the sudden appearance of a boy named Asmodeus, who claimed to be a devil. He tried to whisk Rika away, leaving Naoto helpless against his demonic powers. Just when all hope seemed lost, a girl named Luvriel, who introduced herself as an angel, swooped in to rescue them.
After the battle, they took the injured Luvriel in, and she revealed a shocking truth: angels from Heaven and devils from Hell had been at war for ages, and Asmodeus was sure to strike again. Having lost her powers in the fight, Luvriel asked Rika to take up the fight in her stead. Meanwhile, Asmodeus, also weakened from the battle, saw an opportunity in Naoto's classmate, Otonashi Meimi. When Meimi stumbled upon Naoto confessing his love to Rika, her jealousy was palpable. Seizing the moment, Asmodeus possessed her, transforming Meimi into the evil heroine Misty, and sent her to attack Rika once more. On the other side, Luvriel empowered Rika, turning her into Sei Tenshi Djibril, to stand against Misty and the devil's forces.
